What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are small injections of Hyaluronic Acid – a naturally occurring substance in the skin – which ‘fills’ wrinkles and increases the volume of soft tissue in your face such as the cheek, lips and under-eye area.
As we age, our bodies begin to stop producing as much collagen and elastin – the two key components to healthy, luminous skin. After your 25thBirthday, it is estimated that your collagen production rate begins to drop at a rate of 2% per year, by the age of 50 our collagen production has reduced by 50%. The loss of collagen and elastin is what leaves skin looking tired as it becomes sunken in areas where the volume has been lost. Expertly injected dermal fillers can subtly restore some of the signs of youthfulness without looking ‘obvious’ or giving an ‘overfilled’ look.
