Just how long do Dermal Fillers last?
Just how long can my dermal fillers last is a question we often get at The Goldsmith Clinic.
It’s a lot longer than people expect. It was thought that hyaluronic acid filler dissolved within a year or so, yet evidence is showing more recently that it may stick around for a great deal longer. We aren’t suggesting that anyone should panic and avoid fillers – goodness only knows what we would do without them – but we should be more thoughtful about who is doing the treatment for us as when the treatment is done in the right way, the potential longevity is a massive plus point for those receiving treatment.
It’s also important to make sure that you are making the time to have your filler dissolved properly at the right times.
Have a read of this article by Alice Hart-Davis for The Tweakments Guide to see how much filler an MRI revealed in her face.
I finally got my lip enhancement last week. It’s been a long time coming – 3 years and 5 months to be exact, and after this time I could still feel that I had filler in my lip. I felt that the filler had migrated a little, leaving my lip with reduced definition. In order to get the best result I decided to dissolve the existing filler (this does require a test patch prior to the treatment) and this enabled me to get a really nice crisp lip border.
We have patented techniques here at The Goldsmith Clinic and so after teaching Laura (our new nurse) the Julie Horne technique, she has given me exactly the result I wanted. Even if I say so myself.
I absolutely love a good lip enhancement which subtly plumps and restores the lip area to its full glory. However, I hate a ‘bad treatment’. You know the ones. Badly placed lip filler which results in an ugly and obvious looking outcome.
As a registered nurse prescriber there are so many things I consider before I even open my syringe of filler. Lip shape, lip ratio, the height and width of the lip, age, previous treatments, do you suffer with cold sores, what are your expectations, the choice of product to use – to name but a few of my considerations.
When you have a lip enhancement at The Goldsmith Clinic, I examine your lips checking where your arteries lie. I also look for lumps, scars or nodules as all of these can affect the end result. As with all of my treatments this is a completely bespoke experience. Never ever will I give a one size fits all treatment, or worse – a dreaded trout pout.
If you suffer from cold sores I will prescribe you anti-viral tablets to prevent any cold sores occurring following your treatment. The last thing you want after a lip enhancement is a cold sore. Also, did you know if you carry the herpes simplex virus a lip treatment can bring on a cold sore?
I also use anaesthetic injections to numb the lip, so you can be guaranteed my lip enhancements are virtually pain free.
My clinic prides itself on quality over quantity always, whether you are coming to us for a lip enhancement, other fillers, injectables, facials, laser hair removal, skin tag removal or anything else for that matter, you will never feel rushed or as if you are on a production line.
Our patients who come to The Goldsmith Clinic value themselves, and their faces. Yes, value for money is important, however you will never find cheap, ineffective products or treatments in our clinic. I invest in the very best and our prices reflect this. What you will find is a very informative, high quality, personal and confidential experience and treatment in a clinic you will want to return to time and time again.
